Are you a mixed vet craving more time on farm? Do you love farm work but find yourself spending too much of your week behind a consult room desk? Do you want to build genuine expertise in herd health and preventive medicine rather than just firefighting the next call‑out? If so, this could be the role you've been waiting for.
A Role Built Around What You Actually Want to Do
This isn't a standard mixed practice job with a slightly longer farm rota. This is a purposefully designed, farm‑biased position where herd health planning and preventive medicine sit at the very heart of what you'll do. You'll be working with producers to drive real, measurable improvements in animal health and productivity – the kind of long‑term relationship‑based work that makes farm practice so rewarding, and that's increasingly hard to find at this level in a mixed setting. Alongside the farm focus, a small amount of equine and small animal work means you won't lose touch with the breadth of skills that make mixed practice vets so versatile. It's the best of both worlds, properly balanced. This is a full‑time permanent position – however we would consider part‑time for the right candidate.
More Than Just Clinical Work
This role carries genuine responsibility and variety beyond the day‑to‑day. You'll be:
- Mentoring and supporting our talented group of newer graduates, helping shape the next generation of farm‑focused vets – a hugely rewarding part of the position for the right person
- Working alongside and supporting our experienced Clinical Director team, contributing to the strategic direction of farm services at the practice
- Engaging with industry at a wider level through Rosevean's membership of VetPartners – one of the UK’s leading veterinary groups – which opens doors to clinical trials, research programmes, and industry partnerships that bring genuine intellectual stimulation and career development opportunities you simply won't find elsewhere
West Cornwall: A Place Worth Moving For
Rosevean is based in Penzance, right on the doorstep of some of Britain's most spectacular countryside and coastline. This is a part of the world where the farm work is genuinely varied and interesting, and where life outside of work is exceptional. Think surf beaches, coastal paths, a thriving arts and food scene.
What We're Looking For
You’ll be an experienced vet with a solid mixed background who is ready to lean further into farm work. You’ll have the confidence to lead herd health conversations with clients, the enthusiasm to mentor colleagues, and the drive to get involved in the broader opportunities that come with being part of the VetPartners network. A genuine passion for preventive medicine and building long‑term client relationships is essential. Driving licence required.
