We are currently looking for a Plant Area Manager to join our large Garden Centre Group. Previous experience as a Plant Manager within the industry is preferred; however, applicants with a proven plant management background and knowledge of plants will also be considered. Working in the plant area is a high-volume environment with a fast turnaround. The successful candidate should be physically fit, as this is a very hands-on role. A good knowledge of plants is essential, as is excellent customer service and a high standard of visual merchandising. The successful candidate will preferably possess a horticultural qualification, be in training, or have practical horticultural experience. A forklift licence is an advantage.
Duties include:
- Managing section people resources
- Forward planning of work schedule
- Daily resource management to support effective customer service requirements
- Deployment of the team to deliver excellent plant standards
- Responsible for leading a team
- Operational audit for compliance in those areas
- Key holder responsibilities to assist with opening and closing of the centres, including holiday cover
- Ensuring department compliance and health and safety regulations are carried out
- Positive and strong communicator and a skilled motivational people manager
- Accountable for providing great customer service and having a keen eye for quality and detail
- Ordering and maintaining plant standards
