The Livestock Assistant is responsible for handling various livestock from Serco Northlink containers and herding livestock into allocated pens inside the livestock shed and thereafter segregating and guiding livestock into various trucks for onward delivery. Duties also include the cleaning of the shed and containers and ensuring all containers are fit for purpose.

Qualifications & Experience

  • General livestock handler certification or long term experience in working with livestock.
  • The ability to identify all types of livestock diseases.
  • Good working knowledge of all livestock.
  • A good standard of general wellbeing.
  • Good knowledge of safe handling of all livestock.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Animal Welfare Certification.
  • Experience in livestock handling and management.

Performance Measures

  • Accurate and timely livestock handling.
  • Compliance with safety and welfare standards.
  • Effective facility operations and positive supervisor feedback.
