As a Grounds and Horticulture Assistant at JCB Golf & Country Club, you will be responsible for the maintenance of all common areas, landscaped property surrounds and woodlands within the golf course facility, along with assisting with planting displays in any golf course property when required. Work involves a variety of duties to maintain these areas, ensuring that they are presented in the best possible condition at all times, whilst adhering to the rules and regulations established for the operation.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that care is taken at all times to prevent any long‑term damage to the turf/landscaped areas.
- Understand the company’s policies on health and safety and ensure that all duties performed are carried out with full regard to the safety of customers, visitors, contractors and other employees; work within the health and safety, COSHH, Risk Assessment and SOP guidelines at all times.
- Propose and recommend enhancements while adhering to the rules and regulations.
- Take responsibility for the care of machinery and report loss or damage to supervisor/Head Mechanic.
- Supervise and undertake all maintenance aspects of grass, shrubs, trees and flower planting, as well as landscaping works and woodland clearance within the golf course site and its properties.
- Participate in the propagation of grass and other plants.
- Contribute to the workflow and smooth running of the department/organisation.
Qualifications
- Enhanced knowledge of recreational operations and maintenance work involved.
- Enhanced knowledge of the methods used in the care and maintenance of a high‑end facility.
- Enhanced knowledge of the uses and operating methods of the equipment and tools used in turf management and maintenance.
- Enhanced knowledge of turf diseases, and the methods and chemicals used to control them.
- Good interpersonal skills to communicate effectively.
- Positive attitude in all work‑related circumstances.
- SVQ/NVQ 3 in horticulture or equivalent.
- Favourable PA1, PA2 & PA6.
- Favourable CS30 & CS31 Chainsaw.
- Full UK driving licence essential.
- Experience of dealing successfully with customers and demonstrating effective customer care.
