Role Description
Princes Belvedere is recruiting for a Food Technologist (Quality Officer) to join the business. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for someone to work for one of the UK’s leading FMCG businesses.
Job Purpose
The jobholder contributes towards the management of the quality assurance systems and the site's BRC, CLAS standards as well as other external audit bodies.

Dimensions
- Managing ingredient and product quality assurance using laboratory analysis
- Liaising with production on food safety, quality and legal issues
- To supervise and work as part of a team within the laboratory
- Capable of performing all laboratory testing
Principal Responsibilities
- Using a range of bench tests and instrumental techniques to provide Quality Control on incoming materials to ensure compliance with both in-house specifications and EC/UK regulations
- Maintenance of all laboratory equipment to ensure it is in good working order and calibrated to ISO 9000 and CLAS standards
- Maintain and update all product specifications, including customer, raw materials and in house quality standard specifications
- Assist with NPD/EPD work in line with business expectations
- Maintain the quality manual to ensure HACCP, GMP and Due Diligence is maintained
- Thorough internal audits and review to maintain policy updates
- Ensure controlled documentation is maintained
- Ensure that all products meet legal requirements
- Ensure all products meet customer specification and/or company standards
- Ensure all testing regimes are being carried out to meet the above standards
- Investigate complaints providing feedback to Technical Manager and site on root cause of issues
- Ensure that a cost effective and efficient service is being provided by the QA Department within the factory
- Ensure monthly / weekly reports are being generated and improvements recorded and tracked
- Co-ordinate BRC and Customer audits and ensure actions are closed out
- Complete KPI reports for customers where appropriate
- Complete an annual programme of internal audits (hygiene, systems and standards) to ensure compliance with company standards and retain both BRC and ISO accreditation
- Ensure all audits are correctly documented, action points distributed and closed off
- Be aware of the impact of the position on the environment and be competent to carry out this responsibility
Role Requirements
Essential
- Graduate or equivalent in related discipline
- Minimum 3 years food industry experience in a laboratory environment
- Audit (internal and external) - qualified to carry out internal audits essential
- Basic / Intermediate HACCP and Food Safety Qualifications essential
- Food industry raw material testing experience
- Knowledge of Average Weight Legislation
- Fluent in MS Office applications
Desirable
- Experience of SAP or similar system
- Lead Assessor Qualification desirable
