Plumpton College is seeking an ambitious and experienced curriculum leader to join our team as Assistant Curriculum Manager - Horticulture & Floristry Study Programmes. Horticulture is a strategic priority area here at Plumpton and in recent years we have doubled in size across all provision types. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly effective teacher and manager to lead the design, development and delivery of high-quality study programmes across horticulture and floristry. You will play a key role in driving outstanding teaching, learning and assessment, supporting staff performance, and ensuring students achieve excellent outcomes and progress confidently into further study or employment.

You will provide day-to-day leadership for curriculum staff, promote a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement, and help shape a coherent, industry-relevant curriculum that meets awarding body requirements and supports the College's strategic aims.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the delivery of high-quality horticulture and floristry study programmes.
  • Line manage and mentor curriculum staff, supporting performance, development and wellbeing.
  • Drive improvements in teaching, learning, assessment and student experience.
  • Monitor student progress, attendance, achievement and retention, taking action where needed.
  • Support curriculum planning, timetabling, staffing and resource deployment.
  • Lead quality improvement activity, standardisation and compliance with awarding organisation requirements.
  • Ensure robust tutorial provision, accurate student records and effective target setting.
  • Work with employers and stakeholders to maintain relevant, industry-focused programmes.
  • Contribute to recruitment, marketing and promotional events across the College.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • A relevant teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
  • Proven experience in teaching and assessing with a record of delivering high standards.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability.
  • Proficiency in IT and familiarity with virtual learning environments (e.g., MS Teams).
