Are you looking for a role where you can make a difference to those who are ill and help clinical colleagues? Our Housekeepers are part of the Catering Team within AGH Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, and we are now looking for caring, committed, and flexible colleagues to join our current ward-based housekeeping team.
The role of Housekeeper is challenging but very rewarding, allowing you to take time to speak with our patients and help with their recovery by offering hydration and nutritional support. Full training will be given, including allergen training, and on all of our meals, there may even be some food tasting.
Our Housekeepers help keep the ward clean and tidy in line with the National Cleaning Standards, record fridge temperatures, collate patient meal orders via an iPad, deliver patient meals and drink services, and assist patients with meal ordering and dietary requirements. Working as part of a team is paramount in this role, but be prepared for busy and rewarding days.
Please be aware that our Housekeepers' hours are between 0700-2000, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Typical shifts are 0700-1330 and 1600-2000, although our shifts may differ due to the service area, so flexibility is key.
Main duties of the job:
- The aim of the role is to provide a clean and safe environment for our patients, staff, and visitors and to contribute to preventing and reducing the spread of Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAIs).
- To communicate effectively with patients, including those who may have behavioural issues, challenging behaviour, or severe communication difficulties, work colleagues, and visitors throughout the process of service delivery while respecting dignity and confidentiality.

Person Specification:
- Qualifications: GCSE Maths & English or equivalent, Food safety course level 1
- Experience: Previous experience working with the public/customers, previous experience of working in a hospital/healthcare/care home environment, previous experience of complying with Health and Safety regulations
- Knowledge: Understanding of confidentiality, demonstrates an understanding of dignity and respect, knowledge of cleaning procedures
