We are looking for someone to join the Decontamination Services team as a Decontamination Services Technician! The hours for the role are: Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm, Saturday 8am to 1pm (working 1 in 4 Saturdays). The position will be part of the Bank Holiday rota working 8am to 12pm.
Main duties of the job:
- To undertake decontamination services duties and assist in providing a specialised decontamination of medical devices service contributing to the clinical care of the patient.
- To carry out the receipt, disassembly, cleaning and reassembly, packing and sterilization of reusable medical devices.
- Record all tasks on the Health Edge computerised traceability systems.
- Work in accordance with the department's work instructions and Quality Management systems.
- To provide supervision to Apprentice Decontamination Technicians within the team.
- Plan own workload with limited supervision.
- The role involves exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent knowledge/or GCSE English, Maths at Grade C or above.
- Basic Microbiology knowledge.
Experience:
- Experience of customer relations and dealing with a diverse customer base both face to face and over the telephone.
- Experience of working in a team but also able to work on own initiative.
- Proven experience of working within a Healthcare/manufacturing environment.
Knowledge:
- Healthcare/industry experience in health and safety and hygiene.
- Working within a quality system and standard operating procedures.
- Knowledge and experience in the decontamination of reusable medical devices.
