Kick-start your career as an electrical installation apprentice in our events team, assisting with electrical and energy systems for clients in events, entertainment and theatre. You will build technical skills and professionalism while learning to work safely, troubleshoot issues, read electrical drawings and collaborate with your team. As an Aggreko apprentice, no two days are the same. Each day begins with a team briefing focused on safety and priorities. You will work closely with a senior events engineer on a wide range of tasks onsite at our customers' events—from equipment testing and preparation to electrical servicing and fault diagnosis. You will build practical skills with hands-on support and guidance, always working safely to keep everyone safe.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation and commissioning across multiple electrical disciplines: containment systems, wiring, termination, and commissioning.
  • Work with events specialists to ensure safety and accurate documentation at venues.
  • Develop knowledge and confidence using a range of hand tools.
  • Collaborate with teams to deliver excellent service and contribute to key events.
  • Use IT tools like laptops and mobile devices to support your work.
  • Record work including the completion and maintenance of work documentation, recording of test results and preparation of appropriate certification.
  • Apply relevant legislation; Building Regulations; industry guidance notes; relevant codes of practice and standards while carrying out work.
  • Identify and use personal protective equipment (PPE) that should be used when undertaking electrical work in industrial, commercial, and residential environments.
  • Carry out work in a tidy and safe manner, including restoration of the work area on completion of work.
  • Design, plan, set up, and install electrical and related electronic systems including terminating and connecting cables in electrical wiring systems, installations, and equipment in commercial, industrial, and residential environments.
  • Inspect and test new and, where applicable, existing electrical installations using test equipment.
  • Apply diagnostic and problem-solving techniques to identify, assess and resolve electrical faults in industrial, commercial and residential environments.
  • Install electrical and electronic equipment and components, including traditional and novel technologies such as connections for EV charge points, battery storage, solar and thermal panels, heating and cooling systems.
  • Maintain electrical and electronic equipment and components, including traditional and novel technologies such as connections for EV charge points, battery storage, solar and thermal panels, heating and cooling systems.
  • Carry out and manage own work ensuring compliance to the standards required of an electrician working in industrial, commercial, and residential environments.
  • Record work including the completion and maintenance of work documentation, recording of test results and preparation of appropriate certification.

Training & Qualifications

  • Training: You will follow a four-year apprenticeship programme completing a Level 3 Installation and Maintenance Electrician qualification. College training will be delivered 1 day per week.
  • GCSE in English and Maths (grade 4 or above).
