We’re looking for an Electrical Engineering Manager based in Dumbarton, responsible for leading and managing electrical engineering resources within the Powergen Product Engineering Function to deliver complex design solutions for distribution, gas & diesel-powered generator products.

What you’ll do:
- Lead the electrical design of generator products, including controls architecture, protection systems, and internal electrical distribution.
- Select, configure, and optimize generator components such as ventilation systems, protection relays, voltage controllers, and telemetry VSDs.
- Manage the Electrical Engineering function, ensuring resource planning, competency development, and technical knowledge transfer.
- Establish technical governance and compliance with internal, national, and international standards and legislation.
- Provide strategic direction for electrical systems development to meet business and manufacturing needs.
- Engage with key suppliers for component selection and foster relationships with third-party specialist resources.
- Ensure effective talent management, mentorship, and succession planning within the Electrical function.
You’ll have the following skills and experience:
- Chartered Electrical or Controls Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a management role within the Powergen industry.
- Strong understanding of EPlan application, product and application design, electrical and controls standards, and power generation applications.
- Experience working with global design standards such as UKCA, UL, CSA, and CE.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial awareness and ability to translate business needs into product development opportunities.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to balance effort vs. reward in designs.
