To strengthen the Business Finance team of Agfa’s Digital Printing Solutions Business Unit, we are looking for a Business Controller at our Cambridge site. AGFA Digital Printing Solutions (DPS) is a division of the Agfa-Gevaert Group, headquartered in Mortsel, Belgium, and is listed on Euronext Brussels (AGFB). Building on Agfa’s longstanding expertise in chemistry and deep knowledge of the Graphics industry, our Digital Printing Solutions business (DPS) has a leading position in inkjet printing. We have grown significantly in recent years and are now seeking a Business Controller to help us continue that trend in the years ahead.

As a Business Controller at our Cambridge site you will have a broad controlling role where you will:

  • Act as a business partner for the global DPS innovation team (65%)
  • Be in charge of all local FP&A activities (25%)
  • Be in charge of all local plant controlling activities (10%)

By performing in-depth analysis and translating your findings to our stakeholders, you will add value to our BU by delivering clear insights to all different levels of the organization, with the main goal of driving the BU growth, top- and bottom-line. You will further build on your excellent financial analytical skills towards more tactical and strategic finance business management.

Key Tasks (non-exhaustive):

  • Business Partnering: Partner with the global head of innovation and his R&D managers to provide financial modeling, investment appraisals, and business cases for new initiatives
  • Project Monitoring: Track the financial health of R&D projects, analyzing variances in monthly R&D spend vs budget on inks, equipment and software
  • Performance Metrics: Develop and track KPIs to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the R&D portfolio
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Actively support the local financial services team in managing the month-end closing process, preparing monthly financial statements and analyzing variances between actual and forecasted results
  • Financial planning: Developing annual strategic 5-year plan, annual budget and quarterly forecasts in alignment with BU and plant goals
  • Cost Accounting & Control: Maintaining standard costing systems, reviewing production costs, monitoring material usage and analyzing manufacturing variances to improve margins
  • Inventory & Asset Management: Reconciling inventory and managing fixed assets
  • Operational Support: Providing financial insights to the plant manager for decision-making, such as capital project evaluation and cost reduction initiatives

What are we looking for?

  • A university master’s degree in finance
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in a finance business environment
  • Prior experience as a plant controller or have a good (working) understanding of the key concepts (e.g. cost accounting)
  • Willing to go the extra mile, to be prepared for the future
  • Fluent in English
  • Eager to learn, and you are open-minded and resilient
  • Result driven and service minded
  • Ability to manage under pressure, at a high pace and to deal with challenging stakeholders and deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
