Position Overview
We’re looking for an experienced handyman/multi-trader to become the first in-house trades expert at Hey Alfie — a fast-growing, AI-powered platform that’s transforming how people manage their homes.
As our in-house handyman you’ll carry out a wide range of repair, maintenance, and improvement jobs across London, delivering high-quality work with a friendly and professional approach. You will also act as an ambassador for Hey Alfie — helping customers get the most from our app, completing property profiles, and spotting opportunities to add value in their homes.
This role offers secure hours, a guaranteed base salary, and the fulfilment of being part of a growing business. You’ll join a supportive, ambitious team that’s working on something genuinely exciting: making homeownership effortless through smart technology and trusted service.
This is a temp-to-perm position. You will initially start on a 12-week temporary contract, with the opportunity to move into a permanent role once you’ve shown strong performance, reliability, and alignment with Hey Alfie’s values.
Responsibilities
• Deliver a wide range of home repair and maintenance jobs, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, tiling, decorating, and general household fixes.
•Represent Hey Alfie professionally in customers’ homes, ensuring punctuality, quality workmanship, and excellent communication.
• Work with Customer Success to complete job completion reports logging job details, work done and photos for the user.
• Help customers to fully onboard into the Hey Alfie app and complete their property information.
• Spot opportunities for additional services and support customers in booking follow-up jobs through the platform.
• Provide feedback to the operations team on common household issues, customer needs, and how we can improve our service.
Requirements
• Proven experience (4+ years) as a handyperson, multi-trader, or maintenance operative in residential property environments.
• Strong skills across multiple trades, ideally including:
- Carpentry & joinery (doors, shelving, furniture assembly/repairs)
- Basic plumbing (leaks, tap replacements, appliance installs)
- Basic electrical (light fittings, sockets, switches)
- Tiling and floor laying (repairs and installations)
- Painting and decorating (repairs, finishing, full-room refreshes)
• Confident in the safe use of a wide range of hand tools and power tools.
• Customer-focused with a friendly, professional manner.
• Strong spoken and written English skills — able to communicate clearly with customers and the Hey Alfie team, and to complete job notes and reports in English.
• Reliable and punctual with strong organisational skills.
• Full UK driving licence, ideally with an AM moped licence. If no moped licence then willingness to complete a CBT course to gain your provisional licence which the company will fund.
