Information Technology Consultant — Energy & Commodities
Why this role exists
Most companies do not need new software. They need the software they already own to finally do what it promised. Our work is to bring modern AI into systems that are already business-critical — trading platforms, risk systems, ERPs, document stores — inside an architecture that is safe, auditable and fully compliant, without ripping out what already works.
That work starts with someone sitting down with a client, understanding how they actually operate, and being honest about what technology can and cannot fix. That is this role.
What you will do
- Run discovery with clients: map their systems, data flows, manual workarounds and the places where hours quietly disappear.
- Translate what you find into a concrete plan — integrations, modules, sequencing — and tell the client what is worth doing and what is not.
- Connect established systems to our platform through APIs, files and databases, and see the integration through to working in production.
- Sit with traders, operations, risk and IT and turn conflicting requirements into one process everyone can live with.
- Deploy in restricted environments, including fully on-premises installations with no internet access, and work through client security review with their team.
- Bring what you learn back into the product, so the next client gets it faster.
What we are looking for
- Several years in an IT consulting, solution architecture, business analysis or implementation role where you owned the outcome, not just the ticket.
- Real integration experience: REST APIs, SQL, file interfaces, message queues. You can read a vendor API doc and tell quickly whether it will hold up.
- Comfort in a regulated or numbers-critical environment, where a wrong figure costs real money.
- The ability to explain a technical trade-off to a commercial audience without condescension and without hiding behind jargon.
- Willingness to travel to client sites when the work needs a room rather than a call.
Nice to have, not required
- Exposure to ETRM/CTRM platforms, trading operations, or energy and commodity markets.
- Scripting in Python for data work and prototypes.
- Experience with information security review, access control or audit requirements.
- A second language. Our clients operate across many countries.
We would rather hire someone sharp who is new to commodities than someone who knows the sector and has stopped being curious. If you meet most of this and not all of it, apply anyway.
