Join Our Team as an In-Home Care Direct Care Worker with Domestic duties!

About the Role:

We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Direct Care Workers to support our clients in living independently at home.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • In-home care-based position assisting clients with activities of daily living, including domestic cleaning and personal care.
  • Providing domestic assistance throughout the clients’ home and meal preparation.
  • Supporting community access and transportation to appointments.
  • In-Home Care based position
  • Casual position – Flexible start and finish times
  • Paid travel time

Locations Available:

  • City of Boroondara (Camberwell, Kew, Canterbury, Balwyn, Hawthorn, Surrey Hills)
  • City of Glen Eira (Glen Huntly, Carnegie, Caulfield, Bentleigh, Murrumbeena)
  • City of Port Phillip (Albert Park, Port Melbourne, South Melbourne, St Kilda)

About You:

  • Are you empathetic, respectful, and reliable?
  • Do you hold a Certificate III or IV in Aged Care, Home and Community Care, Disability, or first-year Bachelor of Nursing?
  • Have you completed your First Aid and CPR training?
  • Do you have a Valid Victorian Driver’s Licence, comprehensive car insurance, and reliable transport that you can use to visit our clients\’ homes?
  • Are you available at least 2 days a week, during business hours Monday to Friday?
  • Is your availability flexible and able to meet clients’ needs?

A day in the life of a DCW at mecwacare:

As a Direct Care Worker (DCW) in home care, you’ll play a vital role in helping individuals maintain their independence and quality of life. Working independently, your day-to-day tasks will vary, making each day unique and rewarding. You might support clients with:

  • Daily living, including assistance with meal preparation, personal hygiene, and mobility.
  • Household domestic assistance, including cleaning and laundry.
  • Transport, which may include taking clients shopping or to appointments.

Throughout your day, you may visit multiple clients, spending between 1 – 2.5 hours with each, depending on their care needs. A Victorian Driver’s licence and car with comprehensive insurance are required, as you will be traveling between clients’ homes and may also travel with a client to shops or appointments.

Overall, your day will be filled with varied tasks and meaningful interactions, all aimed at helping clients live their best lives in the comfort of their own homes.
