We are pleased to share an opportunity for the role of Head of Broker & Partnerships Reserving within the Actuarial function. Reporting to the Chief Actuary, this role will be accountable for leading actuarial reserving for various portfolios across Motor and Home Lines of Business. The successful candidate will ensure high-quality reserve setting and reporting, provide clear analysis of portfolio performance, and support the wider business through robust, actionable insight.
This is a senior leadership role with ownership of and accountability for reserving outputs. The role requires a strong balance of technical judgement, delivery execution and stakeholder influence, operating within centrally defined methodologies, controls and governance frameworks. Over the course of the contract term, the wider team and company will continue undergoing an integration journey – this role will therefore need to demonstrate strong leadership through periods of significant change. You will also be required to occasionally travel to our Eastleigh office.
Main Responsibilities:
- Leading reserve setting for various portfolios, including assumptions, methodologies and reporting outputs.
- Owning movement analysis, portfolio performance commentary and reserving committee papers.
- Delivering segment-level claims analysis and identifying emerging trends across Motor and Home.
- Ensuring reserving controls and KRI reporting are delivered in line with governance frameworks.
- Leading and developing a team of actuarial professionals, allocating work and managing delivery across reserving cycles.
- Partnering closely with senior stakeholders across Actuarial, Claims, Underwriting, Pricing and Finance.
- Supporting audit and regulatory engagement in relation to reserving.
- Providing cross-portfolio insight by working collaboratively with other Reserving leadership teams.
Skills and experience you need:
- Significant General Insurance reserving experience, with the ability to own reserving cycles from end-to-end.
- A minimum of 7 years’ actuarial experience, within a General Insurance environment.
- Strong technical reserving expertise, including assumptions, methodologies, controls and governance.
- Proven experience leading, managing and developing high-performing actuarial teams (including the direct management and development of people managers/team leaders).
- Confident stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate complex actuarial insight clearly to senior audiences.
- A collaborative leadership style, with a focus on technical rigour, accountability and continuous improvement.
