Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver dementia-friendly activity sessions across North Tyneside that are fun, engaging, and follow best practice guidelines.
  • Facilitate groups and one-to-one support, helping people living with dementia and their carers access activities and their communities.
  • Provide emotional support and practical advice, signposting to other services where appropriate.
  • Coordinate and supervise volunteers, ensuring activities run smoothly and align with organisational values.
  • Risk assess venues and maintain compliance with Health & Safety and GDPR standards.
  • Monitor and review customer needs, adapting sessions to ensure they remain meaningful and person-centred.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and feedback to improve service quality.
  • Network with local agencies, representing Age UK North Tyneside and promoting dementia care skills within the organisation.
  • Support training and development for colleagues and volunteers in dementia care.
  • Assist with triage and assessment, identifying individuals who may benefit from the programme.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years' experience working with people with dementia and/or their carers.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
  • Strong communication and IT skills.
  • Training in Cognitive Stimulation Therapy or similar dementia care approaches.

Desirable

  • Experience in carer support, person-centred care, and volunteer supervision.
  • Experience of case management.
