Are you an experienced gardener with a genuine love of gardening and the outdoors? Join our gardening team to support and interact with clients, helping them maintain their gardens to a high standard while contributing to our charitable aims.
Responsibilities
- Perform practical gardening tasks – grass cutting, planting, weeding, pruning, hedge cutting, clearing paths and doorsteps, shed and greenhouse tidying.
- Maintain gardening equipment, including a well‑maintained lawn mower, tools and their upkeep.
- Travel independently with equipment to clients’ homes, hubs and the Truro office.
- Provide administrative duties: call and book appointments, manage diaries (Microsoft Calendar), complete timesheets, check and reply to emails.
- Attend training, team meetings, and support client gardening groups or outings.
- Contribute to the quarterly newsletter and communicate with line managers regarding welfare, health and safety concerns.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience working with older clients and maintaining gardens.
- Knowledgeable, approachable and observant with a warm, caring personality.
- Strong commitment to training and meeting our standards.
- Valid driving licence, access to a car, business insurance and the ability to travel independently.
- Subject to an Enhanced DBS check and required training.
Benefits & Working Conditions
- Salary: £12.60 per hour.
- Hours: Minimum 16 hours per week (May–Oct) or 10 hours per week (Nov–Apr) with flexible scheduling.
- Fixed‑term 12‑month contract with the option to extend.
- 30 days pro‑rata holiday (including bank holidays and a birthday day), increasing one day per year up to +8 days.
- Travel time included between client homes; mileage expenses are claimable.
