Are you an experienced gardener with a genuine love of gardening and the outdoors? Join our gardening team to support and interact with clients, helping them maintain their gardens to a high standard while contributing to our charitable aims.

Responsibilities

  • Perform practical gardening tasks – grass cutting, planting, weeding, pruning, hedge cutting, clearing paths and doorsteps, shed and greenhouse tidying.
  • Maintain gardening equipment, including a well‑maintained lawn mower, tools and their upkeep.
  • Travel independently with equipment to clients’ homes, hubs and the Truro office.
  • Provide administrative duties: call and book appointments, manage diaries (Microsoft Calendar), complete timesheets, check and reply to emails.
  • Attend training, team meetings, and support client gardening groups or outings.
  • Contribute to the quarterly newsletter and communicate with line managers regarding welfare, health and safety concerns.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience working with older clients and maintaining gardens.
  • Knowledgeable, approachable and observant with a warm, caring personality.
  • Strong commitment to training and meeting our standards.
  • Valid driving licence, access to a car, business insurance and the ability to travel independently.
  • Subject to an Enhanced DBS check and required training.

Benefits & Working Conditions

  • Salary: £12.60 per hour.
  • Hours: Minimum 16 hours per week (May–Oct) or 10 hours per week (Nov–Apr) with flexible scheduling.
  • Fixed‑term 12‑month contract with the option to extend.
  • 30 days pro‑rata holiday (including bank holidays and a birthday day), increasing one day per year up to +8 days.
  • Travel time included between client homes; mileage expenses are claimable.
