PLACE OF WORK: Clients Homes throughout Paignton, Torquay & Brixham. (We will try to keep the clients local to where you live.)

RESPONSIBLE TO: Service Co-ordinator

MAIN PURPOSE: To provide general household / domestic tasks on a regular basis within Age UK Torbay’s clients home, for a duration of between 1.5 - 3 hrs each client

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning to include: toilets, hand basins, baths and showers, kitchens, sinks, work surfaces, cooker tops, fridges, sorting cupboards, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping floors. Dusting & polishing of furniture, window sills, skirting, shelves and fitments. Changing the beds, Laundry and ironing. Emptying waste bins and transporting to external bins.
  • Light Cooking Duties as required by the client or Age UK Torbay. Shopping, running errands.
  • Cleaning requirements: Clean the property thoroughly and competently (as outlined above) Monitor, record and report on the wellbeing / condition of clients and their homes
  • Companionship: Taking clients out for walks or coffee or shopping trips. Own car and business class insurance needed. Petrol allowance paid. Clients will often require a mixture of cleaning and companionship visits.
  • Requirements for companionship: Good sense of humour, friendly, good natured and easy to talk to, be able to make a difference to someone\'s day. Monitor/record & report of the wellbeing of the client
  • Treat all clients and their homes with respect and dignity at all times.
  • Adhere to all Age UK Torbay processes & policies including health and safety regulations. Treat all information relating to users in the strictest confidence.
  • Attend staff training, team meetings & supervision sessions when required.
  • Flexibility.
  • Age UK Torbay will supply a uniform and all PPE

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in English is essential for effective communication with clients and team members.
  • Previous experience in home care or a care home setting is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A valid driving licence is required for transporting clients as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to empathise and connect with clients on a personal level.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
