Role Description

The Wellbeing Centre Manager is a full-time, on-site position based in Wallsend, responsible for the day-to-day management and smooth running of a busy wellbeing centre for older people. The role involves leading and supporting staff and volunteers, coordinating activities and wellbeing programs, and ensuring a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for all visitors. The postholder will oversee scheduling, room bookings, and centre operations, including health and safety, safeguarding, and compliance with organisational policies. They will work closely with colleagues and external partners to develop and promote services, monitor attendance and feedback, and identify opportunities to enhance the centre’s impact. The manager will also contribute to budgeting and resource planning, maintain accurate records and reports, and act as a key point of contact for families, carers, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Experience in service or centre management, ideally in health, social care, community, or charity settings, with the ability to oversee day-to-day operations and manage competing priorities.
  • People management skills, including leading, supporting, and developing staff and volunteers, promoting a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with older people, families, carers, and partner organisations.
  • Organisational and administrative skills, including scheduling, record-keeping, report writing, and confident use of IT systems and software.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and risk management in a community or care environment, with a commitment to promoting dignity and independence.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating wellbeing, social, or activity programs that are engaging and accessible for a diverse range of older people.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting older people, including loneliness, long-term conditions, and dementia; experience with dementia-friendly practice is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to work proactively, problem-solve, and use initiative while collaborating effectively as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.
