Age UK East London is seeking an experienced leader to manage and develop our Community Services across Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Newham. The role will deliver a range of activities designed to support older peopleâs health, social connection, and digital inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership â Provide strategic and operational leadership of the Community Services portfolio, ensuring alignment with AUKELâs fiveâyear strategy and delivery of key performance indicators.
- Service Delivery â Oversee exercise classes, social activities, lunch clubs, digital inclusion support, online social activities and support services for carers, ensuring high quality and effective integration across service areas.
- Team Management â Motivate and inspire a frontline staff and volunteer team, implement lineâmanagement, professional development, and welfare initiatives.
- Data & Quality Improvement â Use qualitative and quantitative insights to identify opportunities, monitor KPI compliance, and embed continuous improvement practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement â Build strategic relationships with local health, social care, voluntary and faith partners, and contribute to senior leadership decisions.
- Policy & Governance â Ensure services comply with contractual requirements, AUKEL policies, safeguarding and data protection standards.
Qualifications
- Understanding of, and expertise in, the care and support needs of older people.
- Understanding of the impact of discrimination and disadvantage on older people and ability to work in a traumaâinformed manner.
- Understanding and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults and their carers, and understanding the current health and care landscape.
Experience
- Experience leading a highâperforming culture through managing people and successfully engaging and motivating staff.
- Experience leading change in communityâbased settings across statutory, voluntary or private sectors.
- Experience of operational service management within community settings.
- Experience of working with data to monitor, evaluate and report on outputs, outcomes and reach.
- Experience of effective external collaboration and partnership development.
- Experience of engaging strategically with the local community, health and care system.
- Experience of design and delivery of innovative, impactful health and wellbeing programmes.
