We have a rare and exciting opportunity to join our Dementia Day Opportunities Team as a Team Leader, supporting the delivery of high quality, person centred day services across Coventry and Warwickshire. Age UK Coventry & Warwickshire, in partnership with Warwickshire County Council, provides Dementia Day Opportunities in: Nuneaton, North Warwickshire, Rugby.
Main duties of the job:
- Oversee the smooth running of sessions, guide and support a team of Support Workers, and ensure high quality, person centred care.
- Build local relationships, raise awareness of the service, and contribute to support long term sustainability.
This role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills, a positive approach, and a passion for supporting people living with dementia.

Summary of post:
The post holder will provide effective day to day support to a team of Support Workers, ensuring the safe, person centred, and high quality delivery of activities for people living with dementia. They will oversee the coordination of the service, maintain high operational standards, and support staff performance and wellbeing. They will also develop and maintain local relationships, promote the service, and increase the uptake of privately funded clients to support long term sustainability and growth.
Key activities and main responsibilities:
- Oversee the smooth running of Dementia Day Opportunities sessions, ensuring activities are well planned, aligned to the service's core principles, meaningful, and responsive to the needs and abilities of attendees.
- Provide clear operational guidance to staff, ensuring consistent delivery of high quality, person centred support and ensuring appropriate staffing and cover across core hours.
- Ensure all client assessments, reviews, and related documentation are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide supervision to support workers, including regular check ins, clear communication, timely follow up, and annual appraisals.
- Support staff development through coaching, training, and modelling best practice in dementia inclusive approaches ensuring workforce capacity meets service demand.
- Proactively monitor performance, including attendance levels, staffing and capacity, taking early action to address shortfalls.
- Oversee the accurate and consistent use of internal databases and systems, data entry and using dashboards to optimise service delivery and reporting.
- Deal promptly and appropriately with issues relating to attendees, including safeguarding concerns and complaints.
- Actively promote the Dementia Day Opportunities service through building strong relationships with local partners, community groups, health professionals, and referral pathways.
- Identify opportunities to increase the uptake of privately funded clients.
- Raise awareness of the service through outreach, events, and local engagement.
- Portray a positive image of the organisation both internally and externally, and set high standards of personal integrity and professionalism, leading by example.
- Ensure all staff adhere to AUKCW policies, procedures, and quality standards at all times.
- Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required, consistent with the nature and grade of the post.

Person Specification:
Experience:
- Experience of working in health, social care or related support services.
- Ability to motivate, guide and support staff to deliver high-quality services and meet performance targets.
- Strong planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work proactively and independently while coordinating team activity.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High digital competence, including Microsoft Office, email, databases, and the ability to learn systems with strong skills in collecting and interpreting electronic data for monitoring and reporting.
- Ability to represent the service professionally and build positive relationships that support referrals and growth.
- Professional, compassionate, and committed to improving the lives of people with dementia, while remaining approachable, supportive, and able to build trust with families and the team.
- Experience of supporting people living with dementia or older adults with complex needs.
- Line management experience, including supervision, performance monitoring and supporting staff development.
- Experience of leading or coordinating a team within a care, support or community-based setting.
- Knowledge of dementia-inclusive practice and person-centred approaches.
- Experience of contributing to service promotion, outreach or income-generating activity.
Qualifications:
- Relevant qualifications in health, social care or related field.
