Age NI is delighted to invite applications for the following exciting role in our shop premises at Railway Road in Coleraine. The post provides an opportunity for someone with passion and commitment to work in a progressive organisation and help us achieve our vision: a world where everyone can love later life.
Position: Assistant Shop Manager, Coleraine (14 hours Friday & Saturday)
The successful applicant will be required to work 2 days per week, Friday and Saturday.
Responsibilities:
- Greet customers and assist them where necessary
- Accept, sort, price, store and display merchandise/donations
- Ensure a high standard of presentation, display and pricing
- Be responsible for processing payments and ensuring Gift Aid donations are recorded accurately
- Promote Gift Aid to customers and sign-up donors to enhance shop income
- Be responsible for opening and closing of the shop during trading hours
- Supervise Volunteers and Sales Assistants
- Ensure the store is kept clean and tidy
- Attend appropriate training, as required
- Any other duties that may be required by the Shop Manager
Applicants Must Have:
- Experience of cash handling
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent customer service and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral
- Flexibility, integrity and an understanding of confidentiality
It is desirable that the post-holder has experience within the retail sector. It is also desirable that the post-holder has supervisory experience.
What We Can Offer You:
- Salary Scale Β£12.30 per hour (rising to Β£12.80 on 1 April 2026)
- Hours: 14 hours 9:00am β 5:00pm (2 days Friday & Saturday)
- Permanent contract
- Annual Leave: 26 days plus 12 Bank Holidays (pro rata for part-time)
