Age Cymru is offering a fantastic part-time opportunity for a Project Officer with strong communication and people skills, to assist with important work undertaken by the HOPE Project (Helping others participate and engage). Working closely and in collaboration with local Age Connects and Age Cymru partners, this important project delivers independent advocacy for older people (50+) and carers across Wales. By contributing to the development of advocacy across the region, you'll be helping us to fulfil HOPE project objectives centred around delivering early intervention to older people by giving them a voice.

This exciting project supports people to engage, have their voices heard, make choices, share experiences, raise awareness of advocacy, and to develop their skills and knowledge. Working as part of the HOPE regional project team you'll be involved in the recruitment, training, and day to day management of volunteers who provide support to older people. You'll be responsible for making regular contact with older people and their carers to take advocacy referrals and for allocating these to volunteers. This role requires a high level of empathy and understanding.

This position offers hybrid working, a blend of home/office working and occasional travel across Powys and Ceredigion. The contractual office base will be the Age Cymru Powys office in Newtown. We welcome applications from these areas. The successful role holder will be required to provide a car for business use and travel expenses will be included.

Please note salary advertised is full-time equivalent 35 hours per week. Salary will be pro-rata for 28 hours per week. There will be an occasional requirement to work evenings and weekends, and this will be confirmed and planned in advance.

Must haves:

  • Experience of working with others to deliver successful projects and services
  • Recruiting, managing and working with volunteers
  • Knowledge of the issues affecting older people and carers
  • Knowledge of local services in the public or voluntary sector
  • Experience of coordinating and undertaking a range of communications, marketing and promotion
  • Excellent administrative skills, ability to maintain systems, manage processes and attention to detail
  • Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships, work collaboratively but also on own initiative
  • Experience of coordinating events such as meetings, conferences, workshops, and seminars
  • Strong IT, data management and analysis skills.
