The chef will ensure the Hyb Kitchen and Coffee Shop is continually cultivated as an integral part of Cynon Linc. A member of the catering team; working closely with and reporting to the Lead chef &/or Hospitality manager and in their absence, this post will have shared responsibility for all aspects of The Hyb Kitchen and Coffee Shop and motivating the Catering team to achieve targets and maintain a high standard. Creativity and enthusiasm for great food and its presentation is crucial to delight our guests and keep them coming back for more!
General Responsibilities
- Operational Management: Ensure The Hyb Kitchen and Coffee Shop are compliant to the highest possible standards of due diligence with safety, cleanliness, quality and performance standards, whilst maintaining operational effectiveness and efficiency. Ensure all organisations and visitors who use The Hyb Kitchen and hire space at the Cynon Linc have a positive experience through maintaining the highest standards of customer care whilst attaining and maintaining a high food standard rating. Ensure all food and refreshments are delivered to a high standard, whilst staying ahead of trends and continually developing menus to suit a range of target audiences.
- Operational Delivery: Ensure the daily menu is delivered to the highest standard using fresh ingredients, and respond to any special dietary requirements or preference, promoting choice, dignity and respect. Support the Hospitality manager in training, mentoring, and supporting members of the Catering team and volunteers to a high standard, enabling delivery of organisational objectives and income generation targets. Responsible for delivering a diverse menu suitable for on-site functions in a timely manner and to the highest possible standards. Work with the Chef and Hospitality manager to ensure adequate staffing levels that meet business needs and have regard to the operational budget of the Catering Department. Work with the Hospitality Manager to continually evolve the products and services offered at the Café, keeping ahead of trends and customer needs and wants.
- Business Development and Finance: Work with the Hospitality manager, Catering Team and Hub Support Team to identify new opportunities for the Hyb Kitchen and Coffee Shop. Take direction from the Lead chef &/or Hospitality manager to ensure Catering budgets are allocated appropriately and effective budgetary control is maintained. Develop and grow relationships with existing and new suppliers to ensure all food and refreshments produced are of the highest quality whilst considering the operational budget; this includes shared responsibility for stock taking and placing orders with suppliers on a weekly basis. Ensure all sales income and financial control is regularly monitored in line with organisations policies and procedures.
All staff/volunteers working for Age Connects Morgannwg are expected to respond appropriately to any concerns that they may have regarding the abuse/inappropriate treatment of vulnerable adults. This will usually mean alerting their line manager. The protection of vulnerable adults is a core responsibility at all times. The above is a broad definition of the job responsibilities.
