You must have recent hands-on experience with Ruby.
We are hiring 2x Contract Ruby Software Engineering Team Leads to take full ownership of product squads. The company is a SaaS Healthtech that has over 30M users worldwide.
You will join a remote-first team, delivering changes to production over 100 times a month. Speed and safety go hand in hand here, supported by a mature, CI/CD-first mindset.
You will lead a team of 4 engineers building products that improve real-world healthcare delivery. This role is for someone who wants to lead, not just manage. Someone who still loves shipping code but also wants to coach, unblock, and grow a team.
You will work closely with your Product Manager and Designer to define the team’s roadmap and set the tone for delivery.
What makes this worth your time?
- You will be trusted to run your squad from roadmap to release
- You will still be hands-on, coding alongside your team (but not drowning in it)
- You will be coaching, mentoring, hiring, and shaping both the product and the people
- You will contribute to a real mission: simplifying healthcare for patients and professionals alike
What you will be doing:
- Leading a cross-functional product engineering squad
- Supporting career growth, onboarding, hiring, and performance
- Staying close to the codebase, contributing to major features and architecture
- Working with product and design to prioritise impact
- Improving delivery, quality, and team culture
What we are looking for:
- You have led a product-focused engineering team before and worked in fast-paced environments
- You have excellent experience with Ruby and Rails. It would be great if you also have experience with Ember, but this isn’t essential.
- You are still technical and comfortable reviewing PRs and solving tricky problems
- You care about people and have experience mentoring and developing engineers
- You understand how to balance autonomy with alignment
- Ideally, experience working on payment systems such as Stripe or similar
- Ideally, experience working on data extraction, integration, or ETL platforms
Interview Process:
- 2 stages over Zoom
- 1st stage will be an introductory call
- 2nd stage will involve a pair programming session
If you are a solid contract Ruby Software Engineering team lead who thrives in fast-moving teams and wants to build software that has real-world impact, apply now.
