A high-growth technology, data analytics & technical engineering services business seeks a Commercial & Legal Contracts Manager to join their established in-house commercial & legal contracts management division to lead CCM (NEC4 suite) for their technology integration into major energy infrastructure projects.

This is a newly created role and opportunity for an experienced Commercial Contracts Manager to take up position within an established wider commercial & legal (CCM) team for a truly innovative, highly profitable and continually expanding business group.
As part of the centralised and group-wide commercial & legal contracts team, the Commercial Contracts Manager will work alongside other CCM’s, HOC’s and have support from the in-house General Counsel. The Commercial & Legal Contracts Manager will engage operationally and work in a close support/advisory position to directors, senior management, technical and sales departments across a variety of commercial and legal contracts issues across group businesses.
This role will also have a particular focus/alignment to the business’s major, high-value energy infrastructure projects division (technology networks design, build, installation and management), which often are within the NEC3/4 contracting frameworks.
The CCM's core focus will be to advise, review, negotiate, draft and execute contractual agreements (pre & post award, sales and supply side) ensuring legal compliance, risk mitigation and where possible commercial advantage is achieved.
Core Workload Engagement & Focus:- B2B legal contracts arrangements - contract T&C's analysis, review, drafting, negotiation and amendment at bid/tender/proposal, execution and renewal stages (sales and supplier sides)
- Engagement with internal CCM division, general counsel and all other commercial & technical departments
- Advising Sales, Business Development, Procurement, Exec leadership and wider technical engineering teams on all commercial and contractual issues/solutions
- Management, control and escalation of all commercial/contractual related issues
- Assist in the refinement and development of commercial & contractual templates, tools and processes
- Proven experience in leading all aspects of commercial & legal contractual review, drafting and negotiation across pre & post-awards sales, supplier/vendor and partnering agreements
- Specific experience of NEC3/4 contracts framework suite
- Likely 7-10++ years of experience in a dedicated legal CCM role capacity within an engineering services/technology/SaaS environment (Energy/BEAMA sector related would be a strong advantage)
- Solid legal contracts understanding with broader commercial business acumen and engagement
- Likely LLB law degree qualified (other degree and equivalent legal contracts professional experience equally welcome)
- Good breadth of contractual form engagement, ideally spanning: Construction/Engineering/technical services (design, build, installation, maintenance), technology hardware, SaaS and data +++
- Able to demonstrate wider ‘commercial business’ awareness and the correct positioning of contractual advice/operation/negotiation/drafting to mitigate business risk and ensure compliance is balanced with commercial advantage on a mutually agreeable basis
- Agile approach - able to balance competing demands in a high-volume, fast-paced and growing business environment
- Analytical and inquisitive - willing to fully engage in the business’s technical sector, product/service specifics and stakeholder groups
- Stakeholder focused – able to build rapport with sales and technical stakeholder groups alike, internal and external (up to C-suite)
