A high-growth technology and technical engineering services business seeks a Contracts Specialist to join their established in-house commercial and legal contracts management division, with a defined career development path to Commercial Contracts Manager within the business.

Location: Hybrid WFH + 2 days p/w in Crawley/Gatwick area HQ
This is an opportunity for a junior/developing (c.1-5 years post-grad CCM experience) Commercial and Legal Contracts Specialist to take up a position within an established wider commercial and legal (CCM) team for a truly innovative, highly profitable and continually expanding technology and engineering business group.
As part of the centralised and group-wide commercial and legal contracts team, the Contracts Specialist will work alongside other CCMs and report to the Head of CCM. This role will support and develop to lead full contracts T&C’s analysis, negotiation and drafting across the business’ technology networks (hardware, software and SaaS) design, build, engineering installation and asset management (sales and supply side contracts).
Core workload engagement and focus:
- B2B legal contract arrangements - contract T&C's analysis, review, drafting and negotiation at bid/tender/proposal, execution, in-life and renewal stages (sales and supplier sides).
- Ensuring legal compliance, risk mitigation, SLA adherence, deal success and, where possible, commercial advantage is achieved.
- Engagement with internal CCM division, General Counsel and all other commercial and technical departments.
- Advising Sales, Business Development, Procurement, Exec leadership and wider technical engineering teams on all commercial and contractual issues/solutions.
- Assist in the refinement and development of commercial and contractual templates, playbooks, tools and processes.
- Wider business commercial administration, including sales order processing, SLA management and other ancillary work.
Key experience and qualifications required for Contracts Specialist application:
- Legal education degree foundation – LLB, LLM, LPC, Cilex or similar (other non-legal degree, and proven hands-on legal skill set of B2B contractual T&C review and drafting also considered).
- Demonstrable experience of B2B contractual T&C’s analysis, drafting and negotiation (sales contracts, supply/sub contracts, NDA, MOU’s and understanding of key elements such as LoL, Warranties, Indemnity, IP and broader commercial B2B aspects within).
- Any B2B sector experience background welcome, but a preference/benefit could be: Engineering, Engineering services, Technology, SaaS.
- Any additional knowledge exposure to/awareness of NEC3/4, JCT or FIDIC contract suites/process could be an advantage (not mandatory).
- Agile approach - able to balance competing demands in a high-volume, fast-paced and growing business environment.
- Analytical and inquisitive - willing to fully engage in the business’s technical sector, product/service specifics and stakeholder groups.
- Stakeholder focused – able to build rapport with sales and technical stakeholder groups alike, internal and external (up to C-suite).
N.B. This business is not seeking an FQ solicitor for this role/team, nor will it offer training routes to become so. This is a more commercially oriented CCM role and team utilising legal expertise in the B2B contracts focus.
