- With new and exciting client mandates, our high performing Asset Based Lending and Trade Finance team are looking for an NQ or an Associate to join our expanding practice.
- You will act for a number of FTSE 100 and local clients supporting a variety of asset-based lending work.
- Based in either Leeds or Manchester, this role will be part of our national team working with clients across the UK and internationally. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with partners and team members across AG\'s offices.
- The role involves transaction delivery, client relationship development, and supporting the growth of the team and practice.
Purpose of the Role
- Support new client mandates in our Asset Based Lending and Trade Finance team.
- Represent FTSE 100 and local clients in asset-based lending transactions.
- Work within a national team based in Leeds or Manchester, serving clients across the UK and internationally.
- Contribute to transaction execution, client relationships, and team expansion.
The Team
- Our Asset Based Lending team is one of the largest in the UK, recognized as a Tier 1 practice, led by Mike Davison, with 3 partners and 15 fee earners across London, Leeds, and Manchester.
- We handle receivables financing, syndicated facilities, sponsor-backed deals, cross-border transactions, and off-balance sheet receivables purchase programs.
- Our clients include UK banks, US and European financial institutions, challenger banks, funds, and independent ABLs.

- Play a key role in serving important clients, with opportunities for secondments and skill development.
- Work in a leading team in a specialized market, handling both lender and borrower work.
- Engage in client-facing activities with support and training from an established team.
- Collaborate across offices on high-profile deals.
- Participate in marketing strategy development and business development activities.
- Engage in continuous learning through training, mentoring, and leadership programs.
- Take advantage of our Associate and Managing Associate development programs, with mentoring and career planning support.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Qualified Solicitor (NQ to 4 PQE); no specific ABL or Trade Finance experience required, but background in Receivables, Structured Finance, General Banking, or Restructuring is advantageous.
- Genuine interest in asset-based lending and proactive learning attitude.
- Strong relationship-building skills with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Commercial mindset with pragmatic, tailored advice.
- Ability to support complex transactions and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Curiosity about clients’ needs and drivers to deliver impactful advice.
