Let’s be honest about what this role really is. It’s for the person everyone looks at when SAP goes quiet. Or loud. Or expensive. The one who understands that “RISE with SAP” isn’t a marketing slogan, it’s a living, breathing landscape that needs care, judgment, and someone who knows when to push SAP, when to push the cloud provider, and when to calmly tell the business “we’ve got this.”
You’re the kind of SAP Basis consultant who knows the difference between a system that’s technically up and a system that’s actually healthy. You’ve lived inside S/4HANA environments. You’ve migrated, upgraded, tuned, patched, refreshed, copied and recovered systems more times than you can remember. You know what good looks like, and you don’t panic when things don’t look good at 2am.
This role lives in SAP Private Cloud and RISE. Properly. Not PowerPoint RISE. Real RISE. Real service requests. Real incidents. Real conversations with SAP support where experience matters. You’ll be working with hyperscalers too (AWS, Azure, GCP) but always with SAP at the centre, because that’s where the complexity is and that’s where you shine.
Day to day, you’re the person keeping the landscape stable while it’s changing underneath you. One minute you’re tuning performance, the next you’re planning a migration, the next you’re explaining to a stakeholder why a system refresh matters more than whatever meeting they’re late for. You’ll deal with kernel upgrades, OSS notes, backups, disaster recovery, security, connectivity, identity, and all the invisible work that makes SAP feel boring to the business, which is exactly the point.
There’s SAP Analytics Cloud in the mix too. Connecting it properly. Securing it properly. Making sure SSO works, data refreshes behave, latency doesn’t creep in and users only see what they’re meant to see. You’ll troubleshoot the awkward stuff, not just the obvious stuff.
You’ll also be hands-on with OpenText (Extended ECM, VIM, archiving) integrating it cleanly with S/4HANA and older SAP landscapes, because real enterprises don’t live in greenfield fantasies. They live in hybrid reality, and you’re comfortable there.
This is not a back-room role. You’ll be customer-facing. You’ll talk to technical teams and non-technical stakeholders. You’ll work with SAP directly. You’ll be trusted to document what matters, explain what’s happening, and bring calm to situations that could easily spiral without the right person in the room.
We don’t need perfection. We need judgment. Someone who understands cloud architecture, SAP Basis, security, networking and availability well enough to make good decisions under pressure. Someone who can collaborate, not hide behind tickets. Someone who takes pride in systems that just work.
There’s flexibility on background. Degree or no degree, we care far more about what you’ve actually done. Team leadership experience is a bonus, not a blocker. What matters is that you know SAP Basis at a senior level and you’re comfortable owning your space.
Salary will be based on who you are and what you bring. No games. No one-size-fits-all number. The interview process is human. A conversation to understand you, a technical deep dive to respect your expertise, and a final discussion with leadership to make sure this works both ways.
If you’re an SAP Basis consultant who’s tired of being undervalued, buried under buzzwords, or dragged into roles that don’t understand what you really do, this one might be worth a conversation. No pressure. No hype. Just a genuinely serious SAP role that needs a genuinely good SAP person. If that sounds like you, let’s talk.
