The HSE Business Partner (North) reports to the Group Safety and Environment Manager and makes a key contribution to the development and maintenance of the company HSE management systems. The HSE Business Partner (North) will work in partnership with site operational management teams, with the support of HS&E Advisors, to drive compliance to the appropriate standards, to continuously improve the company H&S culture and ultimately improve the performance of the sites. The job holders will also support the sites in the implementation of capital projects.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Develop company standards in conjunction with the Group Health Safety and Environment Manager and partner with business stakeholders to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and company standards, including but not limited to specific compliance with PUWER, DSEAR, Legionella, Occupation Hygiene, Fire Risk Assessments etc.
- Play a proactive role in improving health, safety and environmental site performance through training, coaching, development of site HS&E documentation (i.e. risk assessments, safe systems of work and COSHH assessments).
- Development of appropriate control measures, toolbox talks, Health, Safety & Wellbeing Days / Road Shows with a key focus on relationship management to effectively engage with employees at all levels.
- Benchmark and drive best practice/policy deployment/training requirements across all sites and branches and keep the sites up to date with new initiatives.
- Proactively provide project support and training where appropriate to ensure health & safety and environmental standards are built into all projects.
- Ensure all group and site policies remain up to date and effective at all times in conjunction with key stakeholders.
- Collating and publishing health & safety and environmental performance reports and lead discussions centered around continuous improvements.
- Keep all sites and functions up to date with changes to legislation, company and external certification standards as well as analysing and advising on their potential implications for the business.
- Implement communication campaigns, provide training programs and support initiatives designed to improve the company health & safety and environmental culture.
- Lead and or support in external and internal audits and inspections across the group, recommending both improvement opportunities and remedial actions where standards are not being met.
- Support all sites and functions with incident investigations, ensuring that root-causes have been identified and preventative and or corrective actions implemented.
What You'll Bring:
- Educated to degree level with at least 5 years working within a Health & Safety and Environmental role, preferably within a food and or drinks manufacturing environment, with additional working experience in logistics and warehousing.
- NEBOSH qualified ideally to NEBOSH Diploma level, or equivalent with a working knowledge of ISO 45001.
- Working experience and knowledge of ISO 14001 environmental management system and standards and can demonstrate continuous professional development with IOSH.
- In depth knowledge and understanding of all Health, Safety, Environment and Fire Safety Legislation and can demonstrate a working knowledge with external certification bodies and standards.
- NEBOSH Fire Safety & Risk Management Certificate.
- Trained Lead auditor in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Proven track record of success in leading and managing change.
- Accredited to IOSH Graduate as a minimum or working towards it, IEMA membership.
- Strong IT skills and efficiency in the implementation and management of HS&E management systems.
