CLOSED - Head Chef in Colchester

A luxury 4 Star game lodge in the Greater Addo region is seeking an experienced and creative Head Chef to lead its culinary team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all kitchen operations, delivering exceptional dining experiences, maintaining the highest food quality standards, and leading a motivated brigade. This role is ideally suited to a passionate chef with extensive game lodge experience and a hands-on approach to luxury hospitality.

REQUIREMENT:

• RSA ID and legal residence essential
• Minimum 2 years' experience as a Head Chef within a 4 Star or 5 Star game lodge essential
• Extensive game lodge hospitality experience essential
• Strong leadership and kitchen management skills
• Excellent knowledge of menu planning, food preparation, and presentation
• Experience managing food cost, stock control, purchasing, and kitchen budgets
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards
• Ability to lead, train, and develop a kitchen brigade
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Professional, creative, and passionate about delivering exceptional cuisine

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee all day-to-day kitchen operations
• Design and implement innovative seasonal menus
• Ensure exceptional food quality, presentation, and consistency
• Manage food cost, stock control, purchasing, and supplier relationships
• Lead, train, mentor, and motivate the kitchen team
• Maintain the highest food safety and hygiene standards
• Manage kitchen budgets and control wastage
• Work closely with lodge management to enhance the overall guest experience
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and operational standards

PACKAGE:

• R25,000 per month (Negotiable DOE)
