Role Description

The Owner of the African Association of Professionals in Nuclear (AAPN) will provide strategic leadership, set organizational direction, and oversee all operational, financial, and stakeholder engagement activities. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Macclesfield, involving close collaboration with members, partners, and regulatory or professional bodies within the nuclear sector. Day-to-day responsibilities include defining and executing the association’s vision, managing budgets and resources, coordinating programs and events, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and professional standards. The Owner will develop partnerships with industry, academic institutions, and governmental organizations, while promoting professional development and knowledge sharing among members. The role also includes supervising staff or volunteers, approving key initiatives, and representing AAPN in public forums and professional networks.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership and strategic planning skills, with the ability to set long-term vision and drive organizational growth.
• Experience in operations management, including budgeting, resource allocation, and policy implementation.
• Background in the nuclear industry or related scientific/engineering fields, with understanding of professional and regulatory environments.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills to build relationships with members, partners, and institutions.
• Proven ability to manage teams, mentor professionals, and coordinate projects, programs, and events.
• Ability to work on-site in Macclesfield on a full-time basis and travel as needed for meetings, conferences, and outreach.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Nuclear Engineering, Physics, Energy Policy, Business Management); advanced degree or equivalent experience is an advantage.
