This company is offering an exceptional opportunity to an ambitious ACA / ACCA qualified accountant looking to build on their experience and gain visibility with a £100m turnover private equity backed group. The ideal candidate would be ambitious and highly commercial with a strong business acumen, ideally aspiring to their first FD / CFO level role in 3-5 years time. The position has excellent development prospects for someone with a strong financial accounting and reporting background and financial modelling abilities at a level suitable to develop MI for potential investors.

Working closely with the CFO you can expect exposure at the highest level overseeing the provision of high quality financial information within statutory and regulatory guidelines, supporting a finance team processing transactions and meeting internal and external reporting requirements.

The key responsibilities of this role will be:

  • Preparation of the monthly board reports and MI pack for investors
  • Developing forecasting and modelling for the group
  • Supporting the CFO with delivery of statutory accounts, external audits and the annual report
  • Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparation of the VAT return including associated reconciliations
  • Tax reporting including capital allowances and liaising with auditors re tax pack
  • Responsible for the Fixed Asset Register and ESOS reporting
  • Maintaining and developing controls to ensure integrity of financial records
  • Reviewing and reconciling income and liabilities
  • Creating ad hoc reports and analysis to suit the needs of the business
  • Mentoring team members to improve working practices

This will be a busy role in a high volume transactions environment and you will be expected to get involved in improving internal reporting and forecasting by participating in project management of system improvements. Experience of SAGE, Excel to a high level and knowledge of business management systems will be very useful. You should be comfortable being considered as a role model for the team, leading by example to take a pro-active approach to problem solving and driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate must be ACA/ACCA qualified with a strong financial accounting or practice background.
