This diverse group of companies is about to embark on a period of change and investment which will coincide with the FD taking on a more operational role in the business and the implementation of a new ERP system. As a result of this, they are keen to strengthen the accounts department by appointing a Financial Controller to oversee the day-to-day management of the finance function and play a key part in project work. There is a stable accounts team already in place, so this position would be great for someone experienced who is looking for real ownership of a finance function in a growing privately owned company. The business is expected to reach £30m t/o this year and has a strong balance sheet.
This Financial Controller role will have the following responsibilities:
- Producing and presenting the monthly management accounts
- Variance analysis and commentary
- Cost centre analysis and reporting
- Preparation of company budgets
- Reporting and management of cashflow, including detailed forecasting
- Analysis and reporting on performance
- Preparation of annual stat accounts and audit liaison
- Overseeing payroll and VAT submissions
- Assisting with system implementations and project work
- Developing controls and improved processes
The ideal candidate for this role would have the passion and drive to be part of a high-quality finance function in a profitable business. The position will require the ability to manipulate and analyse large amounts of data, so good Excel skills will be useful alongside the ability to use an ERP system. You will receive plenty of support from an experienced FD, but previous experience of developing and managing a small finance team would be very useful.
