The predicted salary is between 60750 - 74250 £ per year.

Following a period of sustained growth our client is seeking to appoint an experienced Finance Operations Director or ambitious FD Designate to act as strategic partner to the MD.

The business has expanded through strategic acquisition and organic growth and is now forecast double digit turnover for the current financial year.

As they enter the next stage of development they are investing in people and systems to strengthen the financial, operational and administrative functions to ensure they are fit for purpose and further growth.

About the business Based in the north Lancashire area the company supplies specialist equipment to commercial and domestic customers in the UK and Europe.

By working closely with manufacturers on design and product development their ability to offer innovative solutions and excellent support services have positioned them as market leaders in their field with a prestigious customer base.

About the role This opportunity would suit someone keen to go on an exciting journey and act as strategic partner to the MD and genuine number two.

This will be an important role helping to ensure the business runs efficiently so you will take ownership of the office and administration, support operations, manufacturing and the warehouse, driving projects and improving systems.

You will therefore be fully involved in the day to day running of the business, allowing the MD to focus on sales, product development, acquisitions and growth.

The suitable candidate must have a proven track record of working in a fast-moving SME business and a flexible approach to supporting a busy MD.

Key responsibilities

  • Developing a finance function capable of supporting the business’s continued growth.
  • Delivering timely and insightful MI to drive decision making.
  • Strengthening financial controls, governance and compliance.
  • Leading budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
  • Managing the companies FX exposure with oversight of all import / export documentation
  • Credibly leading commercial discussions with customers and overseas suppliers.
  • Providing support to purchasing and supply chain negotiations
  • Leading business systems and ERP projects.
  • Providing commercial analysis and strategic decision support across all departments
  • Driving accountability across department heads
  • Supporting manufacturing and production planning with the Operations Manager.
  • Improving warehouse efficiency, stock accuracy and operational performance.
  • Overseeing statutory reporting and external audit requirements
  • Manage relationships with bankers, accountants and other external advisers
  • Evaluate investment opportunities and potential acquisitions
  • Acting as the MD’s trusted second-in-command, taking responsibility for the day-to-day operational running of the business Ideal candidate profile You will be an ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant already operating at a senior level in a finance role.

Likely to be an existing Finance Director looking for a broader new challenge or an ambitious Head of Finance / Senior Financial Controller looking for a leadership opportunity with a clear pathway to FD.

You will be someone who enjoys building rather than maintaining and is motivated by making a difference rather than just reporting the numbers.

You will be a great communicator, able to develop and motivate your team and work with colleagues across the business to drive positive change and instil a culture of excellence.

The ideal candidate will have good experience of modernising and improving systems, ensuring integration with other business platforms, automating where necessary and potentially project managing an ERP implementation in the future.

This fantastic opportunity has real potential and can offer a rewarding experience to a finance leader looking for a broader challenge or possibly taking on an MD / Commercial Director role at a later stage.

Given the nature and seniority of the position the role will be office based (anticipated minimum 80-90%).
