Following a recent restructure of duties in the finance department, the CFO has created a new role for a Senior Management Accountant / Finance Business Partner to take their reporting and analysis to the next level. The role will involve working closely with divisional directors and leaders within the business, providing narrative and insight into the numbers to support operational and strategic decision making.

The successful candidate will be joining a good team, with clearly defined objectives and a drive towards continuous improvement to ensure the finance function adds value to the rest of the business. The role will be wide ranging, with plenty of scope for project work, including involvement with an imminent upgrade of their accounting system.

The main duties will include:

  • Managing the month end process and producing full management accounts pack
  • Balance sheet reconciliation, investigating and resolving discrepancies
  • VAT Returns, bank reconciliation and fixed asset register maintenance
  • Produce variance and margin analysis to support decision making
  • Preparing budgets and forecasts for the group companies
  • Reporting and analysis of sales and performance
  • Provide advice and insight to senior management to support decision making
  • Prepare group’s annual report and subsidiary stat accounts
  • Liaising with stakeholders to meet reporting timetables
  • Co‑ordinating the annual audit and year‑end financial processes

A key theme of this role will be identifying opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and process enhancements across finance systems. A strong focus on quality and attention to detail will be vital, coupled with communication skills to liaise confidently with non-financial stakeholders.

Experience of producing reports for external investors and financial institutions would be highly beneficial to this role alongside excellent IT skills, ideally with use of BI tools and financial reporting systems. Applicants to this vacancy would preferably be ACCA / CIMA or ACA fully or almost qualified and looking to embark on an exciting career path. This appointment is viewed as a key part of their succession plan so for the right person there will be significant career development opportunities.
