This growing retail / distribution business is looking to appoint a Head of Finance on a part-time basis circa 15-20 hours and can be flexible to suit the candidate. The position will be office based in a modern, friendly and team orientated environment. Due to steady growth this will be the first senior appointment in the finance function and will require an individual with a level of seniority to support an entrepreneurial MD and provide leadership to the rest of the team. This will be a varied role, most definitely hands on as the accounts function will need some modernising and bringing up to speed. The role will involve getting to know all the systems in the business, producing the monthly management accounts and bringing everything up to date. Going forward there is then the opportunity to improve processes, make things more efficient and lay down the structure for future growth. You will manage one member of staff, ensuring all transactional activity is recorded and processed correctly, monitoring cashflow, preparing budgets and also supporting decision making. You will also be responsible for all compliance areas, dealing with HMRC, producing VAT returns and preparing year end statutory accounts. The MD is looking for someone who is a credible communicator, able to bring ideas to the table and constructively challenge where necessary. Strong IT skills will be required, preferably knowledge of SAGE / XERO and the ability to improve systems and potentially change to improved accounting / ERP software. Suitable applicants to this role must be qualified CIMA / ACCA / ACA with previous experience in a senior finance / head of finance level role in a growing SME. Its a small office environment where everyone pulls together to act as a team to meet both personal and business related objectives. JBRP1_UKTJ
