AFME has offices located in London, Frankfurt and Brussels. This position can be based in either our London or Frankfurt office, therefore we welcome applications for either location.
The Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME) represents a broad array of European and global participants in the wholesale financial markets. Its members comprise pan-EU and global banks as well as key regional banks, brokers, law firms, investors and other financial market participants. Purpose of the role
The Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME) is seeking an Associate Director to work in the Compliance Control and Accounting (CCA) division. The position offers the candidate an opportunity to work closely with senior individuals at leading investment banks, helping to shape the debate on key regulatory reforms to promote efficient and effective European capital markets.
You will establish and run working groups (WGs) comprised of subject matter experts appointed by our member firms and drive cross-industry collaboration to support our members and achieve member objectives in CCA areas such as Financial Crime: Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Terrorist Financing (CTF) and in Compliance matters relating to EU and UK Conduct regulation including expectations of European and National Competent Authorities.
Responsibilities
- Within CCA, you will be responsible for supporting the overall objectives of the AFME Compliance Committee and WGs.
- You will focus on initiatives and advocacy objectives relating to Financial Crime, CTF and AML. The initiatives will include supporting members implementation of the EU AML package, developing responses to UK and other EU (including national) public consultations and executing advocacy plans with a wide range of regulatory officials and industry stakeholders.
- You will also lead on the content delivery of AFME's annual AML conference.
- Additionally, the role will also include the development and delivery of key projects within CCA, based on the Compliance Committee's priorities and business plan deliverables and support planning for the annual Compliance and Legal conference and other member events and webinars as necessary.
- You will also be working closely with and oversee/mentor the work of an Associate in the team.
Skills and experience
- Expertise in regulatory conduct matters via an EU agency and/or within a National Competent Authority or regulated EU firm.
- Knowledge and experience of financial markets.
- Judgement to establish and monitor priorities, elevate issues and solicit feedback when required.
- Good time management and organisational ability to manage multiple work streams.
- Intellectually curious, able to identify new themes relevant to members.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Experience in EU and UK financial crime and AML/CTF topics.
- Experience in wider regulatory policy.
