Who We Are While Aflac is a Fortune 500 U.S. company and one of the largest brands in the US and Japan, there is a very good chance you’ve not heard of us (yet). Here’s the deal: We help people cover medical expenses beyond their standard health insurance, and when they come to us they really need us. So, in Belfast, we are building great technology to support our customers in their greatest time of need. We are looking to create a centre for advanced technology in Northern Ireland that will be globally recognised for its adaptability and reinvention. We’re leveraging the latest technologies in the field of Cloud, DevOps, data engineering and data science to solve challenging problems for our customers. The Role As a placement UX Designer at Aflac, you will be an integral part of our team, responsible for identifying user experience problems as well as creating and recommending user-centered solutions. You will work closely with our design team to conduct user research, usability testing, and implement user-centered design principles to create intuitive and validated solutions. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse set of products that will challenge you to think creatively and come up with innovative solutions. You will be provided with the necessary training and resources to learn and improve your knowledge in a range of UX methodologies while experiencing the day-to-day challenges of a US Fortune 500 company with multiple digital products. In this role, you will be expected to bring your ideas and imagination to the table, and actively contribute to our innovation strategy. We are looking for someone who is passionate about solving problems and improving the customer experience with a willingness to learn and rise to challenges given. What you\’ll be doing Creating wireframes and prototypes to effectively communicate design solutions Participating in and contributing to UX design critiques Conducting user testing to validate design decisions Working closely with the UX design team to develop and implement design solutions Participating in team meetings and contributing to the design process Staying up to date with design trends and technologies What you should have – what we\’re looking for Essential: Be enrolled in a design related field (preferably UX or interaction design but open to graphic design, illustration, animation) or equivalent work experience in related design field Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proactive approach to engaging in design discussions, as well as fostering dialogue with developers and users An understanding of UX methodologies and UX process Experience with wireframe and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, InVision, or Sketch A willingness to learn new processes and software (such as Figma and Dovetail) Have a passion for user-centric design Strong problem-solving skills: The ability to identify user needs, generate ideas and create effective solutions A strong project portfolio that illustrates understanding of UX process and how you approach a problem as well as your passion Strong presentation skills An ability to collaborate and work well within a team You should be eligible to live and work in the UK Desirable: Experience conducting research Strong visual design skills A passion project you worked on outside of your course or work So that’s us.
