The MyAflac team are responsible for building and maintaining one of Aflac's highest profile applications which directly serves policyholders' needs. Customer experience is key, and the application allows customers to seamlessly place claims and track claims progress through to claim payment. To-date 1.8 million distinct users and over 3.2 million claims have been filed through this channel, with an expected growth of 30% per annum.
We are looking for a passionate software engineer who wants to build customer-focused, responsive applications using Angular, Ionic, and other frameworks. Someone who is excited to develop and learn new skills. We are building intelligent apps that bring together phenomenal UI Design with exceptional customer experience, and put the policyholder in control, improving the services they receive from Aflac. As part of our Agile teams, we will provide you with the opportunity to use the latest technology to serve our policyholders while applying your skills and working as part of an exciting team.
What you'll be doing:
- Delivering high-quality, tested, secure customer-centric solutions for web & mobile platforms
- Innovating, by identifying and championing better ways of working
- Solving complex problems alongside fellow team members
- Implementing automation through a CI/CD delivery process
- Unit testing and maximizing test automation as part of the SDLC using a Test Automation driven approach
- Listening to the inputs of others and working towards the best solution design that maximises the value to the policyholder, without ego or prejudice
- Working closely with product management and UX to take an idea from concept to delivery using excellent software design, coding, and processes
- Participating in daily stand-ups and contributing to an Agile development team that values the opinion of everyone in the team
What you should have:
Below is an overview of the skills and experience we are looking for, but remember, don't rule yourself out if you don't have everything on the list β it's your intellect and your attitude we are really after.
- Essential:
- Expert in Angular UI Development (or similar JS framework such as React, VueJs etc)
- Proven commercial experience with Java, with a desire to understand and get involved across the full technology stack
- Experience with distributed application architectures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborative team player who works well within a team environment, maximising the different strengths across the team
- Experience using AI coding assistants with an engineering mindset
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or equivalent cloud platform
- 4+ years' experience in a fast-paced technology environment
- Experience with Angular 17 and above
- Experience with Java 17 and above
- Experience as a mobile app developer for either Android or iOS
- Knowledge and experience of DevOps as part of Agile software development
- Experience of delivering Agile solutions for customers/clients located in different time zones
- Experience of implementing security standards to meet privacy requirements for web/portal/mobile applications
- Experience with Containers and DevOps tools
- Other valuable technologies: SQL & NoSQL databases, Linux, Postman, Python, Test Automation (Robot Framework)
- Proactively develops technical skills through personal projects, hackathons, or experimentation with new technologies
