MEWPS Engineer - Wakefield

About the Role

Role Overview In brief, the position of MEWPS Engineer involves:

  • Carrying out pre‑delivery inspections (PDIs), services, LOLER inspections, repairs and manufacturer updates, and maintaining the corporate image of our fleet of rental machines.
  • Attending breakdowns on customer sites.
  • Accurately recording all necessary checks using a company‑issued PDA, following company procedure at all times.
  • Communicating effectively with the engineering team and hire office to ensure the depot maintains maximum machine availability.
  • Employing skills in mobile engineering, plant maintenance, communication, diagnostics, PDI, servicing, LOLER inspections, repairs and powered access.

Requirements

  • You must hold an engineering qualification (ideally in plant maintenance) – minimum NVQ level 2 or equivalent.
  • Be competent in electro/hydraulic systems.
  • Have experience in fault‑finding/diagnostics.
  • Work closely with customers and colleagues, communicating professionally.
  • Be able to prioritise tasks in an ever‑changing, demanding hire environment.
  • A valid IPAF Operator licence/certification is required.
  • A valid CAP licence would be desirable.
