The purpose of this role is to design, develop and deliver high-quality training on financial planning principles, regulatory requirements, products, systems and advice processes. The Technical Trainer ensures that advisers have the knowledge and skills to deliver compliant, client-focused financial advice, with support teams that provide an exceptional service.
As our Advice Technical Trainer, you will typically:
- Deliver engaging technical training sessions on financial planning topics, such as pensions, savings & investments, tax planning, protection and estate planning tailored to audiences across the business.
- Provide relevant support around induction training for new advisers, trainee advisers and paraplanners, ensuring a strong understanding of company advice processes and regulatory expectations.
- Run workshops, webinars and one-to-one coaching sessions, to support continuous professional development.
- Work with T&C, Risk, Advice Quality and Root Cause Analysis to identify common learning needs and address technical gaps.
- Provide structured feedback to advisers and paraplanners to support their technical development and professional qualifications.
- Track training attendance, completion rates, CPD.
- Act as a subject matter expert on financial planning concepts, relevant tax legislation, FCA rules and technical product knowledge.
- Be prepared to deliver other types of training, as needed, within the Development teams.
- Travel to other sites nationwide may be required.
What we are looking for in our ideal Advice Technical Trainer:
- Strong technical knowledge across key financial planning areas (e.g. pensions, investments, protection, taxation).
- Experience in delivering training or coaching in a regulated services environment.
- Excellent presentation and engaging communication skills - through virtual, digital and face-to-face mechanisms.
- Ability to motivate and inspire a diverse group of advice, technical and customer service professionals.
- Excellent training design skills.
- Detailed understanding of FCA regulations, suitability requirements and advice processes.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical learning.
- Level 4 diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (DipPFS) or equivalent qualification.
