The purpose of this role is to operate, optimise, and continuously improve core security tools within a financial services environment, ensuring the protection of sensitive client data, transactions, and digital assets while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
As our Security Operations Engineer, you will typically:
- Operate and optimise core financial security tools (SIEM, DLP, IAM, endpoint protection) to safeguard systems
- Develop, implement, and monitor KPIs and dashboards to measure detection rates, system resilience, and compliance
- Support and maintain governance frameworks for AI in cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with FCA, PRA, GDPR, and emerging AI regulations
- Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability management to identify, track, and remediate threats across our platforms and AI models identifying vulnerabilities such as adversarial attacks, data poisoning, and model drift
- Collaborate with Risk and IT teams to maintain robust controls, support audit readiness, and strengthen operational resilience
- Monitor and manage AI models and platforms to ensure they are deployed securely, monitored for bias, and aligned with financial regulatory requirements
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analysing performance metrics and implementing enhancements aligned with financial industry standards.
What we are looking for in our ideal Security Operations Engineer:
- Experience in financial services security operations, ideally within banking, insurance, or asset management is desirable
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks (FCA, PRA, GDPR, PCI DSS, SOX)
- Demonstrable knowledge of AI risk management frameworks
- Hands-on experience with security tools and platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel, Purview, AWS/Azure AI security services
- AI Implementation & Governance: deploying, monitoring, and securing AI models in cybersecurity
- Cyber Risk Management for AI: adversarial threat modelling, bias detection, model drift monitoring
- Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) implementation to protect financial systems and remote workforces
- Analytical mindset with ability to interpret complex data and translate into actionable insights
