We are looking for a Propulsion Calibration Engineer to support the development, calibration and validation of gasoline propulsion systems, with a focus on starting and aftertreatment technologies. The role will involve vehicle, rig and simulation-based testing, data analysis and calibration development to deliver robust, production-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver calibration for starting, combustion, mode transition and aftertreatment functions, including GPF, TWCC and catalyst heating.
  • Conduct vehicle, rig, simulation and climatic testing to characterise, optimise and validate system performance.
  • Analyse test data, identify root causes and implement calibration improvements.
  • Work with software, system and feature teams to define requirements, validate functionality and deliver calibration work packages.
  • Deliver calibration against agreed performance, emissions, quality and timing targets.
  • Support validation, robustness testing, regression testing and production maturity activities.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and communicate technical issues and progress to relevant stakeholders.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience in ECU calibration and electronic control systems, preferably engine management or propulsion systems.
  • Practical experience of combustion and/or emissions testing.
  • Experience with data acquisition, test systems and engineering data analysis.
  • Proficiency with ETAS INCA/MDA or equivalent calibration tools.
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and produce technical engineering documentation.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills.
  • Full UK driving licence or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of hybrid/electrified powertrain technologies.
  • Experience with vehicle, rig and climatic chamber testing.
  • Knowledge of optimisation, regression testing, FMEA and integration testing.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Six Sigma training or certification.

You should be comfortable working independently and within multidisciplinary teams, communicating complex technical information clearly and managing priorities in a demanding engineering environment.
