This role sits within the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Extended Hybrid Electric Vehicle (XHEV) Propulsion System Integration team. The primary focus is to support design release and technology development through rigorous testing and data analysis of propulsion systems on rigs and prototype vehicles. You will be responsible for ensuring the successful build, commissioning, and operation of test rigs and vehicles, analysing test data, documenting results, and resolving issues through structured problem-solving techniques.
Key Performance Indicators
- We are seeking a validations engineer to support the validation of the propulsion system to meet vehicle attribute requirements for propulsion hardware and software features in BEV and XHEV products.
- Timely and accurate execution of system functional and non-functional tests on PIL/VIL and vehicles.
- Plan creation and alignment with all stakeholders e.g. test ops, instrumentation, systems teams.
- Delivery of system design verification through well-defined test specifications and functional demonstrations.
- Effective validation of system integration and attribute delivery.
- Timely documentation of test results uploaded against test requirements.
- Issue resolution within 24 working hours of identification.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Lead and support the build and commissioning of prototype test rigs to ensure readiness and functionality.
- Plan and execute propulsion system tests on rigs and vehicles, aligned with customer and functional requirements.
- Post-process and analyse test data to determine pass/fail status against technical specifications.
- Generate comprehensive test reports within post test completion to support project milestones.
- Triage and resolve issues using structured problem-solving tools such as 8D and AIMS.
- Develop and manage Design Verification Plans (DVP), ensuring all test properties, equipment, and facilities are appropriately booked and prepared.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to share and obtain data supporting DVP activities.
- Capture lessons learned to inform future validation efforts.
- Support additional tasks as directed by the line manager.

- Structured problem-solving skills in a technical environment.
- Ability to interpret and validate engineering documentation.
- Competency in Microsoft Office for planning, reporting, and documentation.
- Valid UK driving license.
- Experience with proving ground testing and relevant certifications.
- Knowledge of instrument calibration processes.
- Degree in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
