The Engineering Release Specialist is responsible for supporting Product Engineering teams across multiple vehicle engineering areas (Tech Centres) by ensuring accurate and timely release of engineering Bills of Materials (Bo Ms) to internal and external stakeholders.
Working as the specialist point of contact for assigned vehicle commodities, the role requires a detailed understanding of part application, specifications, vehicle configurations, and market requirements.
The Engineering Release Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring vehicle build quality and manufacturing success by enabling accurate part definition, coding, and downstream consumption across the business.
The role involves close collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and other key stakeholders to ensure robust Bo M creation, validation, and release processes.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Ensure timely and accurate release of Engineering Bills of Materials (Bo Ms) to internal and external business stakeholders by interpreting and analysing engineering documentation and collaborating with Component of Concern (Co C) Engineers.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of part usage, application logic, and vehicle configuration rules to ensure parts are correctly coded and support production scheduling and vehicle build requirements.
- Act as the key focal point for customers and suppliers at commodity level, ensuring accurate and timely Bo M releases.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and support to Engineering teams on effective Bo M construction and downstream data requirements.
- Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, suppliers, and industry partners to resolve issues and maintain delivery milestones.
- Manage workload effectively to support programme timing, key project milestones, and departmental objectives.
- Support Early Bo M activities, file set-up, validation events, and engineering release readiness reviews.
- Identify and contribute to local process improvements to improve efficiency, quality, and delivery performance.
- Develop capability and flexibility to provide effective holiday and absence cover across the wider Engineering Release team and other relevant engineering areas.
- Undertake additional responsibilities and project activities as directed by the line manager.
