We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Sports Mentor to join a specialist SEMH school within the Cabot Learning Federation. This is a highly rewarding role, ideal for someone passionate about using sport and physical activity to engage young people who may face challenges with behaviour, emotional regulation, and education. You will play a key role in helping students build confidence, improve wellbeing, and re-engage with learning. The provision offers a structured, supportive, and therapeutic environment for students who have struggled in mainstream education. As a Sports Mentor, you will use your enthusiasm for sport to motivate, inspire, and positively influence pupils.

Key Responsibilities

  • Student Engagement Through Sport
    • Deliver 1:1 and small group sports-based sessions to engage students with SEMH needs
    • Use physical activity to build confidence, teamwork, and resilience
    • Adapt activities to suit individual abilities and behavioural needs
    • Encourage participation and positive engagement throughout the school day
  • Behaviour & Wellbeing Support
    • Act as a positive role model, promoting respect, discipline, and healthy lifestyles
    • Support behaviour using calm, consistent approaches
    • Help students regulate emotions through structured activity
    • Contribute to behaviour and support plans
  • Wider School Support
    • Support students in lessons and across enrichment activities
    • Assist with PE sessions, outdoor learning, and extracurricular clubs
    • Build strong relationships with staff to maintain consistency
    • Monitor and report on progress and engagement

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a background in sport, coaching, or fitness
  • Has experience working with young people, ideally within SEMH, SEND, or behavioural settings
