Affinity Partnerships are working with an outstanding special school which is a special school for boys aged 9 to 16, who have social, emotional, and mental health needs. Many of our students also face moderate learning and attachment difficulties. We are seeking a 'Thrive' class teacher with enthusiasm, creativity and a passion for teaching to join our team and contribute to our fast-improving school.
The study of the Thrive curriculum creates opportunities for students to develop the foundation skills, knowledge and understanding within a range of structured curriculum opportunities throughout the school. You will plan differentiated work to meet the needs of individuals and groups promoting progression, continuity and quality of learning by having clear intentions for children's learning and by using your knowledge of school policies and National Curriculum requirements.
You will support the pastoral needs of the students, creating a safe nurturing space within your classroom that allows students to grow as people and develop a positive sense of self concept, emotional resilience and positive self-esteem. You should be able to accurately assess need, deliver teaching reflective of need, and measure targeted incremental progress, in order that students are prepared for transition and integration into their next appropriate phase of education.
To provide a well-planned, sequenced curriculum that is matched to both cognitive ability and individual strength that prepares students for adulthood. To assume responsibility for classroom management as well as the environment, pupils and staff including line management of class staff (with support and training). Develop a provision of the highest possible quality of education and maintain a supportive atmosphere, ensuring the safety, protection and well-being of each pupil.
Assist in the development of the curriculum. Be responsible for monitoring, assessing, reporting, recording, and evaluation of learning experiences. Providing our learners with an effective means of communication to enable them to have a voice E.g. Symbolic, Makaton, Verbal, Gestural, AAC. Provide a breadth of experiences that enables learners to generalise, maintain and contextualise skills/experiences. Promote opportunities for peer and social interaction to develop confidence, resilience and social skills. This includes planning, marking and attending staff meetings.
