Overview
As a Water Sampler, you\'ll be on the front line of water safety, quality and delivery, ensuring that customers receive the very best when they turn on their tap.
Responsibilities
- Spend most of your time out and about visiting water treatment works, reservoirs, and other Affinity Water sites in and around London, collecting water samples across our operational area and delivering to the laboratory in Staines.
- Perform routine, non-routine and random sampling across our supply area, working independently to complete your daily schedule.
- Interact with customers to gain access to residential properties to take water quality samples and be comfortable entering customer properties and engaging with the public.
- Drive between sites and manage your sampling schedule; a company van will be provided to support travel.
- Provide standby coverage on weekends and out-of-hours to ensure someone is always on hand for operational issues, with the rota provided in advance for flexibility with the Sampling team.
- When not outdoors, complete key administration tasks at the Labs in Staines, including data input and recording samples into internal systems, and using core IT programs such as MS Excel.
What you’ll need
- Full UK Clean/Manual UK Driving Licence
- 3 GCSEs with a grade 4 (C) or above (Desirable)
- Ability to perform manual handling activities safely and competently such as operating valves and lifting lids
- Competent in use of Microsoft Office applications
- Keen interest in the environment and water industry
- Willingness to help people and support local communities
- Strong desire for career progression and passion for continual learning
Salary and Benefits
- Salary: £25,919 - £29,391 (Salary dependent on skills & experience)
- Hours of work: Operational - 08:00-16:00 (Monday - Thursday) and 08:00-15:30 (Friday)
- Standby rotation: 1 in 9
