The Role
As the Project Manager you will work within the Capital Delivery Infrastructure team and will manage DX diversions of large strategic mains and the installation of new large mains. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the role provides end-to-end oversight of project planning, execution, and completion while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. You will take full ownership of project lifecycle management, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. The role involves managing internal stakeholders and liaison with a wide range of external stakeholders, including developer customers, highways authorities, and land agents, to deliver successful project outcomes.
What you'll be doing
- Embed a culture of safety across all project activities, ensuring compliance with Affinity Water’s health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify the implementation of safety and quality standards across all project sites.
- Full project lifecycle management for complex infrastructure projects, including strategic main diversions and new large mains installations, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to specification.
- Act as the primary liaison between Operations, internal teams, delivery partners, contractors, developer-customers, Highways authorities, and other external stakeholders to facilitate clear communication and alignment.
- Lead all aspects of NEC4 contract development and management, including issuing and reviewing Early Warning Notices, maintaining the risk reduction register, and chairing risk reduction and Compensation Event (CE) meetings.
- Evaluate payment applications in compliance with NEC4 processes and ensure documentation aligns with contractual and governance frameworks.
- Produce regular project progress reports, including financial performance, risk status, and key milestones, for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure all works comply with Affinity Water’s Water Quality guidelines and Water UK’s Levels of Service timescales (D-MeX), maintaining the highest standards of network integrity and service reliability.
- Manage escalated project queries or complaints efficiently, ensuring customer concerns are addressed promptly.
What you need
- Proven track record in managing large infrastructure projects, particularly in utility or infrastructure sectors.
- Managing medium to high value project budgets.
- Detailed understanding of NEC contracts and programme, risk and change management, including contractual correspondence.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including contractors.
- In-depth understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations within the infrastructure sector.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to drive collaboration and maintain high standards of delivery.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools, with strong organisational and analytical skills.
- UK Driving License.

- Salary £45,000 - £58,000 dependant on skills and experience.
- May be entitled to a level 3 company car based on meeting the eligibility requirements for an essential user.
